From college students majoring in nursing to registered nurses in clinical practice, the area of legal service continues to proliferate into a new and unique profession for the nursing industry. Understanding the level of expertise, the educational requirements and the areas in which Legal Nurse Experts practice, will ensure a continued growth in this quickly advancing medical and legal program.
Nurses, traditionally, are thought to provide service within a clinical setting. Today, this stereotype is not accurate when describing the extent to which nurses provide service to the public. While still predominately within a clinical setting, the nursing industry has experienced an exodus, of some sort, with many nurses seeking work in the insurance industry, as case management specialists, and within the legal industry, as Legal Nurse Experts. So, what is a Legal Nurse Expert?
Legal Nurse Experts are experienced and educated in a variety of backgrounds. From nursing assistants to licensed vocational nurses to registered nurses, each educational curriculumn and background varies from technical education, associate degrees, bachelor degrees and even master's degrees. As with most professions, the greater the clinical nursing experience, and the greater the legal educational background, the greater the employment opportunities for nurses.
