I rent cars often. Sometimes it's because my current car, a 1996 Toyota Tercel, breaks down and has to be put in the shop. Other times, it's for a vacation. Or, I might have to fly somewhere out of town and need an automobile. When I rent a car, I always choose the 2007 Toyota Corolla as my option.
Older was Better
I will say that I liked older models of this car better. It seems that the newer years of the Toyota Corolla are narrower. By narrower I mean that there is less distance from passenger door to driver door, or side to side width of the car. Many years ago, I feel that the car had more room in its width factor. This doesn't mean that the Toyota Corolla 2007 version isn't still comfortable, there is just a little less room. I am a small person, so someone else might not be as comfortable in this sense as with previous models.
Recommend to Others
The 2007 Toyota Corolla is definitely a car I would recommend to others. I would first recommend it to less tall, lightweight persons for the ideal fit. Larger persons will be comfortable as well- there just isn't as much room as in some other models of cars that are a bit wider from side to side. You can adjust the seats back if you are taller.
Pricing
The price of the car is very reasonable when you compare it to Hondas and the like. I looked at pricing a few times when renting the vehicle, because I do really like the car. Of the Toyota models offered today, this would be the one I would pick. I don't really see a Toyota that is perfect. Even my Tercel is limited. I find that it is even smaller as far as leg room and comfort go, so the Toyota Corolla is definitely a step up for me.
Engine
What about the engine? I enjoy driving the 2007 Toyota Corolla. I rent the automatics only. I am always pleased by the way the engine sounds and the force of the engine. I seem to have no problem accelerating quickly or having enough power to get up steep hills or mountainsides when driving. The engine also isn't loud enough to be bothersome like some cars.
