Most drugs are not without side effects. The key is can the side effects be tolerated. The side effects of Chantix can vary greatly from one person to the next. Some people experience very little discomfort and others have such severe Chantix side effects that they have to discontinue the use of the medicine.

Recently, Pfizer has changed the warning label on the stop smoking aid to include the possibility of psychotic behavior and possible feeling of suicide and depression. It is a good that this action was taken, but this is not the first medicine to have similar warnings and they are still on the market and they have helped many people.

Nausea and vivid dreams were the other two side effects that most people notice. Most of the information that I read stated that most of the patients were not bothered by the dreams and most were able to tolerate the nausea.

My husband took this medicine and his complaints were mild nausea that passed after 30 minutes and gas. He felt that it did help considerably with his success at being able to quit. He has been smoke-free for over 60 days and considered the minor side effects of Chantix to be well worth the return of being able to quit smoking.

Not everybody will be able to tolerate the medicine and some people will tolerate it long enough to be able to quit smoking. Chantix has helped many people quit smoking and if you are making the effort to give up smoking, you should consider using Chantix to help you get through the first three months.

Well like you said, everyone is different and it will work differently for everyone. I have not tried it myself, but I may try it if I just can't quit out right. Great read. Thanks for sharing.

I started taking it last week. I have had mild nausea, but not taking it on an empty stomach has helped that. I have already noticed a decrease in cravings, and I'm still on the weaker dosage. Another side effect that I have is an odd taste in my mouth, which makes the cigarettes taste god awful (worse than normal for you non-smokers who can't understand the appeal in the first place, lol). I really think Chantix will help me be successful this time, and I like the fact that its not a nicotine replacement. I want the nicotine out of my system.

My husband had to quit taking Chantix due to feeling suicidal. He has a morbid fear of death, so I knew the Chantix was really wreaking havoc on him. I suggest if someone takes Chantix that another person is around who can gauge the mental health of the person on a daily basis. It's so easy to miss the early warning signs otherwise!
