Cars has always been a fascination of mine, I am able to name every car make and model as i see them passing by. However I have not seen anything but cars that ran on fossil fuels. There were rumors dating as far back as the 1970's that there was a car that ran on water, but it never developed into a factual car. I have not heard of an automobile with such a claim until today, when a friend of mine from Europe told me that she is anticipating a purchase of a compression air car when she arrives back home.

I was flabbergasted, "wait a second, a car that runs on air" nonchalantly she replied yes, is that so far fetched? I have never heard of the idea that a car something that is very heavy and requires more energy to run than it outputs. I believe that a car is about 20% efficient, from the amount of energy that is goes into the car from the energy that is put out.

I did a some research and to my amazement there are cars in the works that run on nothing but air, well not just any type of air it is compressed air. The following is a rundown of this amazing and hard to believe automobile.

With the fluctuation of oil prices it is important that we look for alternatives to transport millions of daily commuters and goods that rely on transportation. In Europa they are beginning to tackle the issue of oil in a very efficient and new way. A European manufacturer plans to make a type of car unaffected by crude oil, cars that run on compressed air. Luxembourg-based Moteur Development International (MDI) is gearing up for the launch of its Air Car line next year."It's safe, doesn't pollute, doesn't explode, it's not poisonous and it's not expensive," said MDI representative Sebastien Braud.

The company will initially sell the cars in France, where the first assembly line is due to start production in the middle of next year.

whoa, that's awesome! I'd rather spend $8 to charge my car instead of $50 to fill my tank- I can't wait to see how it does.
