The Best Attractions Oslo, Norway Has to Offer

What you are looking to get out of your vacation in Norway depends on your own interests. However, there are certain things that I would recommend everyone see. Norway is such a diverse country with so much to see and experience, so you should not spend the entire time in Oslo. The following attractions are, in my opinion, the realm of Oslo and absolutely a must see for visitors. Vigeland Sculpture Park is an amazing park filled with sculptures of a Norwegian artist named Gustav Vigeland. It's completely free to enter and you can walk around the park for as long as you like. The sculptures are breathtaking, naked and beautiful. Vigeland Sculpture Park is by far one of the best attractions Oslo has to offer, so be sure to pay it a visit.
Karl Johan Street is the main street in Oslo where no cars are allowed. It starts at the main train station and ends at the castle, passing by myriads of stores and restaurants. Every visitor to Oslo is sure to walk this street up and down several times and be sure to walk down some of the alleys as well, as some of the best places to eat and drink are in these alleys. When you reach the castle you should walk in the park on the back of it, it's truly beautiful.
The Viking museums at Bygdøy is another must see attraction. This is great for the whole family, starting with the ferry ride over there. You board the ferry at Aker Brygge, a beautiful harbor from where you can go up to Akershus Fortress. Once at the museums on Bygdøy, you'll go back a thousand years in time, witness houses and Viking ships, as well as art and much more. If you have the possibility you should go here on a weekday, as it's generally less crowded on those days.
Even if you don't like sports, Holmenkollen is sure to fascinate you. A short ride from the center of Oslo lays this spectacular ski jump and stadium that every year hosts big events. There is a ski jumping simulator that will let you feel what it's like to take off from the ramp and fly down the hill. The surroundings are amazing as well and if you are really lucky you should try to get there when there's a skiing event going on.
