Oral medicines for allergies help relieve the itching caused by chicken pox. An antihistamine such as Benadryl is recommended. Calamine lotion applied to the rash also works well as a chicken pox treatment. Calendula lotion is another effective treatment for relieving itching caused by chicken pox.
