Since the fall of 2004, the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS)(R) has been broadcasting a delightful half- hour animated children's television program titled "Maya & Miguel" (R). This fun, yet educational television program revolves around the lives of 10- year- old twin brother and sister Maya and Miguel Santos. These Mexican- American twins, along with their families and friends, offer a fun view into modern- day multi- cultural Latino / American life, that is accentuated by warm family relationships and zany misadventures. Being a longtime fan of many of PBS's shows, including several of their PBSKids.org programs, I began watching Maya & Miguel strictly by accident. As a freelance writer, I prefer to do much of my daily work accompanied by PBS programming. I find that the educational- based programs presented by PBS Kids Go !, such as "Arthur"(R) and "Zoboomafoo"(R) provide a pleasant, learning- based accompaniment to my writing that is non- obtrusive and enjoyable. One day, I happened to tune- in to PBS(R) while Maya & Miguel was airing and I became an instant fan.

Takeaways
  • Maya & Miguel is an excellent children's television program.
  • PBS(R) hosts an array of quality children's programming.
  • Maya & Miguel is a multi- cultural television program.
Did You Know?
