There are thousands of exercise and weight loss programs that for a fee basically guarantee they are your ticket to thinness. If you buy this or buy that exercise equipment you will use weight. So how well do they work?

If you walk religiously everyday in the Xvest you will lose weight. The Xvest is a vest that you can add weights to in one pound increments. The more weight you add the more weight you lose. That is the premise. It does work but it isn't the vest. It is you walking. Look in a full length mirror at your profile. How many Xvests are you packing naturally? Do you really need to pay to add weight for walking? The key to healthy weight loss is exercise and diet. What do you need to do to loss weight?

Walk to start. Walk thirty minutes a day, fifteen in the morning and fifteen in the evening. Walk at a slightly faster pace than your normal stride for seven and a half minutes then turn and walk back. Make a mental note of how far you walked. On your next walk try to walk a little further, but stop at seven and a half minutes and walk back. You don't need to drop sixty bucks for a pedometer if you have a Timex. Don't try to over exert yourself, just go a little further every walk. If you are serious about losing weight, you will be walking more that twice as far on day 30 than you did on day one. That is phase one, exercise.

Phase two is diet. First eliminate all drinks except for water, tea and/or coffee for thirty days. That includes diet soft drinks. How many grossly obese folks have you noticed sucking down a diet Pepsi? Few people drink the water they need daily so water is the first part of the diet program. If you are a lover of adult refreshments, limit the alcohol to a couple glasses of red wine or a couple of drinks neat or with water, no beer or mixers. All sports drinks are off limits, too much sugar. If you start craving for something different try some cranberry juice or any fruit juice mixed with Club Soda.

I'm already sort of skinny...if I wore one of these vests, I'd be a walking stick. I need more doughnuts and twinkies:) Great article...I think walking is among the healthiest activites...for me too.

Linary, Yoga is excellent. Any type of low impact regular exercise will make a diet more effective.

I saw this before and wondered about it for a second. I could see it making the upper body little stronger (mainly core and back) but other than that, not much weight could be lost as you should be gaining muscle. Interesting stuff!
