The South is an awesome theme for a 60th birthday party. Whether you are from the South or not you will love these ideas for 60th birthday party ideas!

I have lived in the South most of my life and realize so many people love visiting the South, eating Southern food, and celebrating the Southern way of life, that it is a great way to celebrate a 60th birthday party, any birthday party, or special occasions.

Here are 3 great ways to celebrate a Southern Birthday party for your 60th birthday (or any birthday before or after)!

60th Birthday Party Ideas for a Southern Style Party #1: Low Country Boil

A low country boil is the quintessential southern outdoor dinner! Don't worry, this one can be accomplished inside if needed, but one smaller scale please!

Simply take a few pounds of shrimp, a few pounds of potatoes, some corn on the cob, and a few pounds of sausage. Start a huge pot of boiling water and then add the sausage. Pour in some Old Bay seasoning.

Now, add the potatoes. After 15 minutes add the corn. 5 minutes later you can add the shrimp and cook until done.

Take picnic tables and lien them with newspaper. Pour the drained low country boil out on the dinner table an everyone can gather around to enjoy! Yum!

You can serve any desserts you want for your special birthday part with this one!

60th Birthday Party Ideas for a Southern Party #2: Pig Roast

Ok, so you really want to go all out? Try roasting a pig over an open fire. Most people hire a catering company to do this for them. They can handle the work and the mess! Ok, they can crave the thing too! I have to say though, your birthday party guests will love gathering around the fire, watching dinner cook, and enjoying a cocktail or two while they talk and catch up!

This is perfect for an all day 60th birthday party that ends with dinner. It will take quite a few hours to roast the pig, so the caterers will need to start well ahead of time!

Be sure to have some other Southern recipes prepared ahead of time to go with this. Small finger foods, side dishes, and southern dessert recipes can all be found online.
