Why We Should Not Nuder or Spade Our Cats After They've Mated

We have this cat named Angel. About three years ago she became pregnant and had a litter of kittens. She was then fixed, and no longer can mate to become pregnant again.

A sad thing that happened, is her babies died. I do no know what the reason for it was, but that is what happened. And now that she was fixed, she can not have them
 replaced.

This cat is still sad, even after about 3 or 4 years later. It was for a long time that I could tell she was crying. She kept her head low, and would just lay around.

Sometimes she would call for her kittens and look for them. I know if she could have kittens again it would fix her right up. It made me cry seeing her in the situation of having lost her babies, and not being able to have anymore again.

One day while out in the yard, I came across a lost kitten. I could not find the mommy, and I had thought about trying to give the kitten to angel. I had found out that angel is not going to take on any kitten. This caused angel to become very grieved and angry. I then found the mommies litter, and was able to give the kitten back.

She is not as sad anymore, and I thank God for that. She still can not have kittens again, and I believe she is always going to be wounded from it. But I can see that God has made things better in her life.

I want to give the advice of not fixing your cat if she has had any kittens. Even after she has raised them up, and winged them. It would be a depressing thing for her to not have anymore babies. After the first litter, she is going to one to do it again.

Having your cat fixed seems like making the animal not whole anymore. It is like having the feeling inside you that something is missing. When I watch these cats grow up, I can see that missing part in them. To me, it is more visible in the cats that have mated at one time in their lives.

If you are going to get the kitty fixed, then its best to do it before any babies have been conceived, and also before any mating has been done. After they have mated or conceived babies, they have known that part of life, and it becomes part of their life.

I run a cat rescue and trust me, I have seen many mommy cats very happy to see their babies go. Do not let people fool you cats dont want babies any more than I want my head chopped off! The heat is painful, the labor is painful there is absolutely nothing good that comes out of an unfixed cat! 10,000 cats and dogs are euthanized every year in Los Angeles county. Spay and neuter your cats and dogs, you will lengthen their lifespan by lessening the risk of cancer and urine crystals. I guarantee your cat is depressed about something else!

I can't agree with your article because cats and dogs should always be spayed or neutered, unless you are planning to breed them specifically. It protects them against certain diseases, and tends to make them more friendly and sociable. My cat was found in a skunk trap at about the age of 3, so she may well have had kittens previously. As part of her adoption agreement, she was spayed before I could take her home from the shelter. She is very affectionate (she's basically a big suck) and has never given me any indication that she longs for a previous litter.

Spade and Nudered? Best to "fix" them before they have offspring; they won't know the difference. Do you have any idea how many kittens (and puppies) are euthanized every year because nobody wanted them? No one needs to bring more cats and dogs into the world; they, or some of their offspring, could well end up being killed in a "shelter."
