Dumb and Stupid Laws that Are Still on the Books in Ohio

See If You Are an Unknowing Law Breaker!

If you choose any law from any state, there is going to be at least one person that would say that it is stupid. All laws seem to have some sort of purpose at the time that they are passed. Passing a law is a difficult and tedious task that is usually not taken lightly. Ohio has its fair share of those stupid laws that make you scratch your head. While they may have made sense at the time that they were passed, they leave a person a little perplexed now. Ohio is a great state but the laws that they still have on the books are pretty stupid. If you live in Ohio, you have probably "broken" one or more of these laws. Some of these stupid laws are for the entire state of Ohio and others are for specific towns or counties within Ohio.

-The Ohio driver's education books state that you must honk the horn whenever you pass another car. (That would be an awful lot of honking.)

-Breastfeeding is not allowed in public.

- It is against the law to mistreat anything of great importance.

-No one may be arrested on Sunday or on the Fourth of July.

-If someone loses their pet tiger, they must notify authorities within one hour.

-It is against the law for a woman to wear patent leather shoes in public. (Allegedly, this is to prevent men from seeing up the woman's skirt in the reflection of the shoes.)

- It is against the law for an Ohio grocery store to sell corn flakes on Sunday.

-Cross dressing is against the law.

-It is illegal to roller skate without first notifying the police.

-It is illegal to throw a snake at anyone. (Apparently, this was a problem at one time.)

-A policeman may bite a dog to quite him.

-No person while operating a motor vehicle shall fail to slow down and stop their vehicle when signaled to do so upon meeting or overtaking a horse-
drawn vehicle or person on horseback. They are to remain stationary until horse-drawn vehicle has passed.

These Ohio laws are a pretty funny and it kind of makes me happy that I did not live back then if some of those things were a problem.
