Use Coconut Oil to Grow Your African American Hair

If You like Ojon, You Will Love Coconut Oil

About a year ago at a wedding shower, I received a little party gift along with a bunch of other cosmetic items. The bride's best friends worked in the beauty industry and hand tons of wonderful goodies. When I got home and went through my gifts, I opened the jar to reveal a pungent
scented crème. Having no idea what the product was, as it came with no literature, I looked it up online. I typed in the letters on the lid o-j-o-n, and to my surprise, this Ojon product was supposed to be a miracle worker for hair conditioning and growth.

As I wear my African American hair natural, and seldom use heat products, I used it mostly on my daughter's hair since we use heat appliances on occasion. She has fine hair with ends that break easily, but it is also very kinky. Before every hair wash, I put Ojon in her hair and wrapped it in plastic and a towel. I was pleased to find the next time I straightened her hair that it came out longer and thicker than I was accustomed to. I was sold. I continued using Ojon in my daughter and my hair until the product was almost gone. I looked into purchasing more, but frankly could not get past the price tag. At $55.00 for a few ounces, even if it lasted 6 months, I could not justify breaking our budget for a tiny jar of hair conditioner.

So I kept researching. I found that there is a product that works very much in the same way as Ojon, but costs a fraction of the price. In addition, this product contains none of the preservatives and chemicals that are added to Ojon. This product is pure, clean, and according to my research, does as good a job. This product is coconut oil. I finally bit the bullet and purchased two large jars 29-ounce jars of coconut oil for half the price of just a few ounces of Ojon.

It so happened that we had completely run out of Ojon by this time and my daughter's hair was beginning to show problems of trouble due to too much flat iron pressing. I began putting coconut oil in her hair on a daily basis. After two short weeks, there are no visible signs of hair breakage and her hair is smooth where it had begun to feel rough.

I've been wanting to try ojon for a while now, but the price is a bit high for me. One of my friends with natural hair just recommended coconut oil to me as a daily haircare product to soften hair. I hope it works as well as you say (and just as good as ojon). I'm definitely giving it a try

I've been transitioning from relaxed hair to natural, and frankly almost nothing seemed to be able to protect my ends from breakage, keep my hair strong, and prevent my scalp from drying out. Until I bought some Nutiva Coconut Oil -- my ends were much healthier, and I had NO flaking on my scalp which is huge. I would put an obscene amount on at night, wrap my hair and in the morning it had all been absorbed. It works for me.

I must say that VCO is the best oil I have ever used on my hair!! I have naturally curly hair and it tends to dry out very often. The oil is a miracle on my hair as it makes it so so soft and shiny. And I notice that my hair has gotten a whole lot stronger and has grew since I began using it. Also I use a little of it on my face at every night and rinse it off in the morning with an apricot facial scrub. My skin is flawless and glows. I haven't used it for cooking yet but I'm sure I will after hearing and reading the great things about it. I recommend this oil to anyone who is seeking a remedy for hair and skin issues!! It works!!! But make sure its Extra Virgin, Certified Organic Coconut Oil which means that it is all natural and nothing hasn't been added to it to effect the benefits. Hope I've helped who ever read this because it helped me and I wish you all the best!!

I have been using Pure Coconute oil from GNC. I take it internally.. My daugher with ezema is allergic to it, It makes her itch! It cost me $10 at GNC with membership card. It does not stay on shelf long enough.

Coconut oil can put a stop to dandruff. I know. I'm living proof of it. Just remember to put enough virgin coconut oil (VCO) on your hair AND scalp, but not too much. You wouldn't want to be dripping all over the place. Massage it gently and the medium chain fatty acids (MCFA) richly and uniquely found in coconut oil will help give you beautifully strong and dandruff-free hair. Personaly i am an african american woman and when i read this i was astonished! I was ust wonderin where can i find the ojon oil and is it better than the coconut oil?

naina, using coconut oil as a pre shampoo conditioner will reduce breakage, but I don't think it helps with dandruff. I have used vitamin e oil directly on the scalp to help virtually eliminate my kids' dandruff though.
