Two College Students Thrown Off Southwest Flight: Too Pretty to Fly?

What does one have to do to get escorted off a flight by police? Threaten the attendants? Start a fight? Join the mile high club? According to Nisreen Swedberg and Sarah Williams, all they did was arrive "young and decent-looking."

So Much For Smooth Sailing

According to news reports, Swedberg and Williams were escorted off a flight that landed in L.A. on Valentine's Day. They were then banned from Southwest Airlines for life, and ban became effective immediately. That's right, the girls were left with no return flight to Tampa, Florida. No charges were filed, and Southwest defends their actions. They claim the girls were being disruptive, but they see it a different way.

Turbulence Ahead!

Swedberg said she was denied a beverage, being told she had to wait till the others were served. Williams knocked on the plane's bathroom door after waiting 15 minutes, and claims the occupant yelled at her shortly there after. Profanities were exchanged, and maybe that's were the problem arose, but Williams drew a different conclusion.

Williams is directly quoted as saying the following: "I think they were just discriminating against because we were young decent-looking girls. I mean, nobody else on the plane looked like us except us," she said. "[The flight attendants] were like older ladies. We were younger. Who knows, they could have been just jealous of us because we were younger."

My Opinion

Okay, seriously? This is almost as dumb as the current Mary Poppins scandal, how ridiculous can people be? I'm young and decent-looking myself, and I highly doubt I'd get kicked off a plane just for that. I've flown on Southwest many times, and received nothing but good service from courteous flight attendants. I was young and decent-looking then as well, and my appearance seemed to have no adverse effects on them.
