Very interesting. If I drive by and see good stuff out by someone's trash I pick it up and donate it to Salvation Army.

It's an interesting idea, but I know that I could not be a freegan.

Interesting, I've never heard anything about this. Sounds a little gross to me to get food from the garbage tho. Alot gross actually.

I always think it's such a shame to throw away perfectly good items. Moe people should check dumpsters and trash for things others are wasting. Just the other day I found a perfectly good Smurf comforter next to the dumpster. I really hate waste. I used to work for a boss who destroyed perfectly good items before throwing them away - just so no one else could use them. To me that was the ultimate example of greed and waste. Those who throw away useable items should be more ashamed than those who take them out of the trash. I think Daniel and Amanda make very valid points, and I admire them for their efforts. Excellent article!

Well, I've done my share of DD'ing, but never ever for food. I have retrieved some very useful items and completely understand the benefits.

We have quite a problem with fregans where I live. Must be the mild weather. My daughter is a private investigator, and she's had to do lots of dumpster diving! Not a fun thing. Well done.
