Huge canvases, tiny canvases - any canvas can make a great addition to your home decor if you use them in creative ways that bring style and elegance to the room. That’s because there are so many different things you can make from them.To use canvases for home decor pieces purchase the ones that have the wooden frame already stapled to it. These canvases can be expensive unless you purchase them at online outlets, dollar-theme stores and other discount places. Here’s a few things you can do with the canvases:
1. Paint canvases different colors and hang a chosen amount across one wall in your house. Do a row of 4 or 6, then another row below, or space them a certain distance apart and cover the wall with canvasses. There are many patterns you can do which will look great. The look is unique and the colors of the canvasses can really make the wall stand out with character.
2. Cover the canvases in fabric then add them to the decor of the home. Hang one huge square canvas, but turn it so it will be diamond-shaped, then place a sconce on each side. You can even place a brass or other novelty in the center of the canvas to give depth and theme.
3. Paint the backside of the canvas then trim around the wooden perimeter with lace, Fun Foam, thick paper strips or another medium that will cover the staples. Now you can use the canvas as a sort of shadow box. Arrange a scene, like a Christmas tree with miniature presents, or a woodsy scene with mini animals. You can do all sorts of arrangements like this, from flowers to sea scenes. Place canvas side of the arrangement to the wall to hang. Bring more flair to the arrangement by adding something to the frame itself, like a small bunch of silk flowers or a painted wooden seagull.
4. Put a picture frame, with photo, in the center of the canvas, after having removed the picture frame backing. Make sure the canvas is quite a bit larger than the photo frame. Add medals or ribbons, newspaper clipping, or other items to each side of the picture. Or, set the picture off-center, and to one side, then add a laminated poem or something similar. This makes a lovely tribute to someone special and is very simple to do.
