Can MSNBC's Keith Olbermann & Chris Matthews Spell "Misogyny"?

One sure indicator that men are threatened by the notion of a woman with brains, strength, and tenacity is when they avoid the issues and immediately begin babbling about baseball. That's exactly what happened at the conclusion of the last Democratic presidential primary debate as
Hillary Clinton read the book to Barak Obama on a variety of issues beginning with health care, extending to NAFTA, and to a range of other topics about which her opponent was largely uninformed.

Chris Matthews immediately teamed up with buddy Keith Olbermann to engage in a pathetic and overabundant baseball metaphor. Did Hillary hit a "home run?" Would she have been more ladylike had she bunted instead of hitting away?

More salient issues might have been addressed by Olbermann and Matthews in the post-debate dissection. Olbermann might have pinned down Matthews on one of his comments about the much vaunted Obama oratory. Did you once again have "a tingling going up and down your leg" as Obama spoke? Political junkies will remember that awkward remark by Chris Matthews during one of the earlier debates.

While the MSNBC pundits Olbermann and Matthews tried to persuade viewers that Clinton was "peevish" in her remarks about the order of questions, it was an important point she brought up. In just about every question of any complexity, Clinton delineated a response reflecting considerable detail. Obama went second and repeated Hillary's answer almost verbatim, validating Hillary's charge that Obama represented "change you can Xerox."

Even more revealing was the opening sequence in which two of Hillary's television clips were aired. You've seen them, even if you live in Madagascar. The first one shows Hillary warmly congratulating her opponent in debate mode. The second one shows Hillary saying "Barak Obama, you should be ashamed." There were no corresponding "conflict clips" shown with Barak Obama as the subject.

FAIR AND BALANCED U BELONG ON FOX NOISE

Herm.... You're right on with your comments. MSNBC is definitely the Obama Channel (with an occasional departure from the Obama scripts. Amused also by your remarks on Mathews, "the spitting mouth "...... Matthews thinks that speed rapping will hide his vapidity and make him seem intelligent. I don't think Ann Coulter has any talent, either, unless it's talent you can xerox. Olbermann is truly the "WORST PERSON....ETC" but not only for March.... The guy seems twisted and really has no show, no content, and no orginality. His whole thing is running down other TV products. I can only stand to watch MSNBC in the a.m. for a brief period. Thanks for reading....

I used to watch Olbermann's countdown until I found out that his rhetorics were neither fair nor balanced. It seems that MSNBC has been acting like Obama's mini campaign headquarter since the last few months. Mathews, the spitting mouth already lost his credibility and Olbermann who earns his salary mostly degrading his rival O'Reilly on a regular basis is actually no better than Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, and O'reilly when it comes hate mongering. Olbermann's recent unfair rhetoric against Senator Clinton was despicable and for that it is fair to say that "YOU ARE A WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD FOR THE MONTH OF MARCH 2008".

I really enjoyed this article and I couldn't agree with it more. Thanks!

yeah I can't stand MSNBC anymore. They bias against Hillary is so blatantly obvious. Well, she gave them the ultimate b!tch slap in Ohio, Texas, and RI. All this media bias has made me MORE sympathetic to her.

That's true, Fabletoo.... I wouldn't have even noticed if it wasn't so disgusting and obvious. I was not a big Hillary fan until her so-called former supporters started beating her up in the press. I lost all respect for people like Dodd and Leahy., Kennedy and Kerry...all those Democratic establishment former supporters falling all over themselves to launch passionate obsequies to Obama. It's revolting. If Hillary makes it to Pennsylvania, I'm going to change my registration so I can vote for her. That British Maggie Thatcher was smart and tough. So was Joan of Arc.

Hillary is getting a bad rap with the media all over the board. Obama gets away with everything, yet every news channel spends their time berating her and putting her down. America is 50 years behind the rest of the developed world when it comes to their opinion of women. In England, we had a female Prime Minister 30 years ago. The US is too afraid!

These assholes hold more contempt for Hillary than they do for Bush. Which one of them is more responsible for the war? You are waaaay off with that comment. You're saying that they HATE, LOATHE, AND HOLD NOTHING BUT UTTER CONTEMPT FOR THIS WOMEN BECAUSE SHE (among how many others) VOTED FOR THE WAR. They really are going to have to find something more solid to harp on. Are you unable to see through the smoke screens. O.k. then listen up, I'll say it slow for the mentally challenged...... T H E Y A R E U S I N G T H A T A S A N E X C U S E ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! It's so clear that my ten year old can see it. But aren't you tired of that excuse now. You sound so uninformed, that you actually sound like a nut. By the way do you know what a sexist is? Look in the mirror.

I think you make some very good points here! Olbermann, Matthews, & many others definitely seem threatened by Hillary, and I don't think it's due to her political views -- they seem like they would be shaking in their shoes about any strong, intelligent woman who is audacious enough (sarcasm intended) to run for president. I'm so weary with sexist attitudes -- I truly don't understand why some men are so threatened! Even Jon Stewart seems to find it amusing to constantly pick at Hillary while rarely giving Barak the same level of scrutiny. These guys are only making themselves look pathetic, in my opinion.

Hi, Julia.... I won't accuse you of misogyny :) and thanks for reading. Am I right in thinking the Democrats want to unite as soon as possible and as expeditiously as possible? They're focused on the polls, and though I think Hillary would have an actual chance of winning, the Democratic Northeast establishment has chosen Obama in an "ends justify the means" hope of beating McCain. At this point, it doesn't matter to the Dem party bosses who is "ready" or knowledgeable about the issues or has worked the hardest and the longest with a singular focus. The die is cast and, in a year when a Democratic victory would have been more possible than ever, most Democrats are riding a "wave" or "movement" builty up from a single issue. It will be a big job for Obama's guidance will carry the day.
