"I want to wake up every morning without fear of my neighbor or someone from the streets using a gun on me to steal my property or my money to buy drugs. I want to know where the missing adults and children are before the police find their remains in a lake, dumpster, or in an abandon building. I want celebrities and the common people have equal treatment and equal standards when they commit a crime. I want the corporations be more responsible of their product on the streets, then the government worrying about offending the corporations by forcing them to become more responsible. I want first time offenders have a choice to join the military to better themselves instead of rotting in a jail cell. I want to know my future children will be safe to gain an education about life instead of gaining an education about death."

When the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution was approved, it was to allow people the right to bear arms to protect the freedom of our country against foreign invaders and Great Britain (Dye). Now, due to the changes of each generation and years passing, many people and government have misunderstood and misquoted the 2nd Amendment (Sides 19). Due to our fears and disrespect for each other, Americans believe we need to have a loaded weapon in our house, car, office, plane, and schools to feel safe. We hear about kids bringing in guns to school to frighten a bully or to gain respect amongst their peers. When did we become more fearful of each other? Why are guns the most favorable weapons to use in any confrontation then a sword, fist, pen, or verbal words?

Due to the misunderstanding of the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution, it helped fueled the use of guns on our streets and in our schools, but why are drugs still polluting and killing our neighborhoods? I see no government policy, regulation or in the Bill of Rights saying that non-medicated drugs are legal on American soil. Why are their more types of illegal drugs on our streets then 20 or 30 years ago? It seems to me, that every time the police capture drug users and distributors of one type of drug, a year later a different form of that same drug is produce. Why?

Takeaways
  • Why do we need more guns on our streets?
  • Do you think Americans and government need to change their way of thinking?
  • What are your view on government policies and American standards?
