"Imagine" David Archuleta as the New American Idol

Is David Archuleta the next new American Idol? Let me just say this much first: I was never quite a big fan of AI. This is only the third season I've tracked. I actually make a decision to watch the show each season based on the contestants. Before young Mr. Archuleta, I thought Carrie Underwood was the best artist that ever came out of American Idol. My next favorite is Chris Daughtry. Other than these two, I don't really care to hear songs by any other "Idol." Not to say the others aren't good- they are. It's just that Carrie Underwood's and Daughtry's music are the only ones I'd buy and listen to.

I have to say though, that David Archuleta is giving Carrie Underwood some competition. I've been a fan of his since the beginning of this season. Everything he's sung has blown me away! He's very consistent from song to song, and from the beginning to the end of a song. I believe it'll take a bad day for him to mess up. He's an amazing 17-year old with such a beautiful, mature voice. Which, he presents so well in the songs he sings. Whether or not he wins this season, David Archuleta will achieve huge success in his musical endeavors. I believe he will be the best "Idol" by far. Until, of course, another of his grandeur emerges. I'm surprised he hasn't yet been discovered.

David's rendition of Imagine by John Lennon on American Idol on Feb. 26 was incredible! Magnificent! It's just the beginning of the season, and he's already brought "it." Paula's tear session was a bit of an overreaction to me. But, I understand. David's "Image" definitely struck my emotions a bit. I got that tingly feeling during the performance, because I was so awestruck how good it was. Simon was conveyed what I was thinking. "Imagine," as David sang it, was very risky and brave. You have to know you're that good, and then be that good to pull it off.
