How to Be a Blessing to Others
Many people live their entire lives wrapped up in things that make them happy. Often they don't worry about those around them or even realize that they should. It's all about them. Now I am all for obtaining your goals and getting what you want out of life, don't get me wrong, but I think
there is to more life than just that. God wants to bless us with a happy life and I am sure he wouldn't mind seeing us bless others while we're at it.
It really doesn't take much you know. Sacrificing your entire pay check to someone else, which is a nice gesture, isn't necessary. Sometimes it's the small things that can make the biggest impact on others lives.
About two weeks ago I was at work at my job at a local university. I am in the technology training department and was scheduled to conduct a training on a product that allows people to get help on Microsoft products online. We have two trainings rooms, both of which I do not have a key for. There are a lot of security precautions taken so pieces of technological equipment are not stolen so only a select few have a key. The problem? Every person that I was use to going to let me in the room was out for the day, victims of the relentless flu. Hmm. What was I to do?
I searched the building for someone else who might have the key, but couldn't find anyone. I had a big dilemma. I was a trainer who couldn't get in the training room to train. Then I ran into Mike. He was one of the only people around that day and was involved working on a project. Fortunately, with my plea for help, he came to my rescue and let me in the room. Then he proceeded to double check the equipment to make sure I would have a successful training. In his eyes, all he did was let me in a room. To me, he had blessed me for the day. I was now able to do what I needed to do without going too far out of my way to accomplish it. I was grateful to him for his help.
See? That's all it takes some times to bless someone's day. Sometimes it doesn't even really require much effort on your part to make a huge difference for someone else.
