Its no joke: losing weight is tough. It feels like just about everyone knows someone who is on a diet. Dieting is also not just frustrating but it is also expensive. You pay to go on a diet plan, you pay to go to a gym, and often you pay to buy healthy cookbooks. Wouldn’t it be nice if there were some free resources out there for dieters?

This website was designed by CEO & Founder Chris Downie who conquered shyness and anxiety as a youth. He used mind and body techniques including fitness, nutrition, goal-setting and consistency. Later, while working at Proctor & Gamble right out of college, he inspired a woman to lose fifty pounds using the same program that he followed. She told him that this had changed her life. This inspired Downie to start Spark People several years later. This website is great, with tons of resources for losing weight in a healthy manner. The diet plans will help you figure out how much weight you want to lose and by what date you should reach your goal, and how many calories you should be eating each day. It will also tell you how many calories in protein and carbohydrates and fruits and vegetables. The fitness tracker gives you many exercises that you can do to get in shape, with tips on exactly how many you should be doing for your current fitness level.
