Best Spyware and Adware Remover

To date, my computer has been infected at least 4 times with adware/spyware that changes my homepage, and displays popups non-stop. Two of the four times, I had to format my hard-drive (even re-installing windows didn't do much) to get rid of the spyware. One of the times I used 3 different programs to try and get rid of spyware with reasonable success – They were still there, but quarantined and not as annoying as before. The last time was when I used NoAdware.net's NoAdware after using Spybot -Search and Destroy and had complete success.

Knowing the kind of frustration and hammer-weilding-computer-smashing rages that spyware and adware has lead many people to, I've decided to compile a lost of the best Adware and Spyware removers.

What exactly is spyware and adware?

Adware : This is a program that is installed on your computer either secretly, or is installed with shareware/freeware software. The basic purpose of an Adware program is to show you ads and get you to click on them. Inherently, adware is little more than an annoyance and consumes a bit of your computer and internet resources. In large numbers though, they can drastically slow down your computer and connection.

Spyware – This is far more notorious than Adware. Spyware inspects your computer and sends information from your computer to the programmer/owner of spyware. The information collected is generally about your surfing habits and your profile. However, many a times, the information sent is about he kind of back doors on your system that can be used to bring in viruses and Trojans. Some spyware will even download this onto your computer and wipe out the entire system. As such, spyware is a lot more of a bother than just adware.
