7 Promises Every Husband Should Make (and Keep) to His Wife
I can't speak for all women, certainly, but generally, all the women I've come to know concur with the following list of "wishes" they would love for their husband to abide by. This is not to say that women should not abide by wishes made by their husbands as well (of course, there are a
few), but this article deals with solely what the wife craves and desires.
I WILL NURTURE YOU
When your wife is ill, be the best nurturer you can be. No woman expects her husband to turn into Florence Nightingale over night (and probably doesn't want him to, either!) but it shouldn't be a stretch of energy or of the imagination to perhaps, every couple hours, go to her bedside and ask if she needs something. Medication? A massage? Sucrets? Ice cream? More than likely, she has been there for you when you were sick, now it's time to return the favor.
Also when your wife is ill, do your best to keep the children away from her (if that's her desire). Naturally, children go to their mother (usually) for their requests (juice, playdates, cookies, etc). Step in for her and deal with these decisions yourself.
HOW ARE YOU FEELING?
Don't assume your wife is 100% better because she's now doing the laundry. Ask her how she's feeling, and even if she still feels crappy, it'll make her feel better that you cared enough to ask.
THESE FLOWERS ARE FOR YOU!
Whether you've been in your relationship with her for one or fifty years, buy your wife flowers on Valentine's Day! There is no excuse. If you cannot afford to buy her roses, buy her wildflowers, or a simple bouquet. The thought is what counts here, and instead of your wife believing (as you do) that your relationship has 'moved past that silly romance stage' - she will be (to some degree) hurt and let down that you didn't care enough to get her flowers on this traditional day for lovers. (Flowers on her birthday are a darn good idea as well!)
