Everyone loves a party! Party invitations can be the very beginning for setting the backdrop for your get-together. Whether it be a birthday party, an anniversary party, a Holiday party or just a backyard barbeque, any party can be special. What a better way to kick start your party, than with your own unique party invitations.

Party invitations in a bottle are a lot of fun to make, as well as receive. The cost is minimal for such unique and unusual party invitations. Many people do not know that you can send plastic bottles in the mail and use them for party invitations!

To make your party invitations, you will need the following supplies:

Recycled, clean and dry Individual Plastic water bottles with screw on lids. Labels removed. (As many as the invitations you want to send)

Paper

Pen/Marker

Wide, Clear Packing Tape

Scissors

Money for Postage

Optional (but nice to use):

Computer with a Printing Program

Color Printer

Ephemera such as bits of ribbon, beads, party dust, glitter, small charms, cutouts, etc...

The first step in making these unusual party invitations is to decide on the time, date and theme of your party. You must then write or print out the necessary information on a piece of paper for each invitation to be sent. I like to use the computer for this part, because you can choose the exact graphics, colors and font size for your invitations and print them out. If you do not have a computer, you could draw your own graphics to decorate each of the party invitations.

The next step in constructing your party invitations is to roll up your paper like a "scroll" and insert it into the bottle. You can trim it with scissors if need be, so it fits. At this point, you can go wild with your ephemera! I like to take ribbon and cut it into little bits and drop into the bottle, along with adding some glitter, colored pieces of paper (confetti), little paper cut outs that go with the theme of the party, little charms, etc.... These little touches really make your party invitations come to life. Use your imagination on this part!
