My Daughter's Bad Hospital Experience
It's that time of the year for illness. Medical professionals are seeing a lot of ailments such as cold, flu, bronchitis, pneumonia and other similar illnesses. About a month ago my son began to feel ill. After a few days he began to feel worse and went to the hospital. He knew if he
didn't seek medical treatment he would end up missing work. He was diagnosed with bronchitis. The physician prescribed an antibiotic as well as an inhaler and albuterol. After a couple of days he began to feel better.
Recently my daughter became ill. I went to the hospital with her the same night she became sick. She was told that she had bronchitis and an abscessed tooth. She was prescribed amoxicillin for the abscessed tooth. The physician told her to return to the hospital if she didn't feel better in a few days. She was also told to contact her dentist. Three days later she felt worse. She had a fever, an inflammed throat and swollen glands. She was also complaining of head, neck and back pain. Once again we returned to the hospital that night after the fever began to rise.
The hospital was extremely busy since everyone seemed to be coming down with some sort of illness. We sat in the waiting room for two hours. Once we were taken to an examination room we waited another hour. Finally a nurse came into the room. She looked at my daughter and said, "You again? What's the problem now?" As my daughter began telling her how she felt the nurse abruptly cut her off in mid sentence. "Let me look at your throat and listen to your lungs." She quickly in my daughter's mouth. "Why didn't you go to your doctor?"she asked. "The office was closed," my daughter replied. "Well hon, you've got the flu. What do you expect? Of course you're gonna feel like crap. Everybody feels like crap when they've got the flu," said the nurse who then abruptly left the room. A few minutes later the discharge papers were slapped on the bed and that was that. My daughter was not examined by a doctor. No tests were done. The nurse was totally rude and her behavior was completely unprofessional.
