Homemade Birthday Party Favors - a Gift and a Good Time All in One!
When it comes to birthday party favors you can spend a lot of time and money, or very little. If you are like me, and want to spend as little time and money as possible, then homemade birthday party favors that double as a craft
project for your guests are perfect! My children have always found them to be their favorites as well.Think about it - you provide the supplies and they assemble them. Part of the "gift" is the fun they have putting the birthday party favors together and personalizing them! This is a true win/win situation for all involved!
There are two ways to get your birthday party favor "kits" together: you can buy them pre-assembled or assemble the supplies yourself. Often the pre-assembled kits are a cheaper alternative.
I have always used http://www.orientaltrading.com for all my party and craft kit needs. When we took a mission team over to Thailand a year ago we needed craft kits for 700 children and buying the from Oriental Trading was way cheaper than putting them together ourselves - and boy did the kids have a ball!
If you have a large stash of craft supplies at home like I do, you may still prefer to use what you already have on hand to save money. Here are a few ideas for make it at home birthday party favor kits:
1) For younger kids - A brown or white paper lunch sack, some crayons, paints, glitter, glue, pom poms, yarn, and whatever else you may have is a bunch of fun waiting to happen! Print out a "Happy Birthday Tommy" picture on the printer - paste it to the bags, and let them decorate it any way they see fit! They can haul their cheap little plastic favors,zip-lock bags full of candy, and an extra piece of cake home in them.
