According to Blacklist news a video of police brutality has surfaced on the internet, and shows a man being abused by Cookeville police. Carlos Ferrell was pulled over by police and thrown to the ground. The video shows a K-9 dog attacking Ferrell, and a police officer allegedly planting drugs on him. The video was taken from the police cruiser dash and is a cam video that can be seen here.

The police officer in question was Chris Melton, and he has been suspended from duty. A total of seven officers are involved and named in the lawsuit. When asked by reporters for a comment, he refused stating his lawyer was not present according to the report by WKRN.

According to WKRN Nashville, Ferrell is now suing the Cookeville police department for $10 million dollars. Blair Durham, Ferrell's attorney was quoted saying his client was a "victim of violent police work", and that at the end of the incident his client feared for his life, and agreed to anything the police officers said. The suit could be investigated by the Federal Department of Justice reports WKRN.

The case of cops using their cars to run over suspects is equally disturbing.

Great reporting and I am so glad that they have cameras now to catch more of these Sobs when they are attacking people! The cops are sometimes worse than criminals!

It sure helps that real journalists arrived in the South a number of years back. Still, I wonder if this TV station will suffer backlash such as a boycott, picketing, etc. from the "1950s elements" who remain. Another good one Dee.

I'm not an advocate of frivolous lawsuits but maybe in the legitimate cases, which on the surface this seems to be, this will start shaking some of the bad seeds and practices out of law enforcement. Great job Dee!
