Free Birthday E-Cards
Uh, oh. It's that time of year again. Your mother, brother, husband or best friend has a birthday coming up. It's time to go pick out a card for them. But what if you're too busy to go to the store, sift through all the cards they have available, and search for an envelope, a stamp and an address? The solution is simple: send an e-card.
Now, wait a minute. I know what you're thinking: "But that's not personal at all!" Not true. With the many websites available today, you can still put a personal touch on the card that you send to an e-mail address, rather than a home address. And best of all, many of them are free.
Take for instance my favorite e-card website, Hallmark (www.hallmark.com). There are many different categories to choose from. You can pick from cards for family members and friends; funny cards; emotional cards; cards that include free games; cards you can add photos to; and cards with characters, like "Maxine" and my two favorite birthday greeters, "Hoops and Yoyo".
Once you pick your card, you can personalize it with your own message and choose what day to have it delivered. Hallmark will even send you an e-mail to tell you when the card has been sent, and another one to tell you when your card has been read. There is also an address book you can load with your friends' and family's e-mail addresses. Whenever you're ready to send them a birthday greeting, sign in to your address book and select the address you want to use. It will automatically be pasted into the address box when you create your card.
I have sent many Hallmark e-cards over the years. I usually choose a card from the Hoops and Yoyo selection. I love these guys. They are adorable, and very funny. I laugh every time I see one of their cards, and I know that the recipient will have as much fun receiving the card as I have sending it. I send them to all of my friends and relatives for their birthdays.
