Sometimes the recipient finds out about the party, but when the prize remains a surprise the party is an over whelming success and is worth sharing with others. Fourteen years ago, my siblings and our father planned a surprise birthday party for our mom that went off without a hitch.
When planning for such a special birthday party for someone you love and admire there are a few things to keep in mind, such as a budget. However, with a large family working together, anything is possible, as anyone who has read my articles has come to know. We are a large family, who unlike many families out there gather more then a few times a year to be together because we actually get along nicely.
Early in 1994, we girls released this was the year our parents would turn 50 years old, and we want a huge surprise party celebration and so we set forth with organizing this birthday party. We knew it could be done, and all five of us girls and our sister law began organizing this surprise birthday party for our mom.
Our sister in law Brenda was the manager of a local restaurant so it was easy for her to figure up how much food we would need after we had the guest list completed. The guest list numbered almost 300 so we knew since we were all on limited budgets we would only do the hot dogs, hamburger, and the rolls. We would include on the invitations that this was a dish to pass picnic, which around here in this small town is very acceptable. What a surprise birthday party this was going to be, and it was coming together nicely.
