Pointers on What to Enjoy While Your Down There

Everyone has heard of the exciting things to do in Las Vegas. Here are a couple of ideas to add to the list.

Jean, Nv. is outside Las Vegas but the accommodations are every bit as good as downtown, and cheaper, too. Nevada Landing has excellent food and clean, comfortable rooms. The gaming is as varied as you’ll find in any of the bigger casinos. The Gold Strike
is just across the road and equally enjoyable for the food and gaming.

If the traffic and racket downtown are a little too much for you, or if you have trouble finding a room to your liking, give Jean a try. You’ll be glad you did!

Mandalay Bay is a huge casino in downtown Las Vegas. The main point of interest for me was their aquarium. It’s enormous! The journey to see the aquarium seems to take forever, after you get to the casino and find a parking place and walk in the massive doors, you’re just beginning. Through the gambling area and past several restaurants and shops, you’ll find the hallway. It’s maybe fifty feet wide and seems to go on forever. After what feels like an hour or following signs and turning through more hallways and corridors, there it is!

After buying your ticket (Nevada residents get a discount), you are asked to stand in front of a blue screen for a photograph. Once that’s done, there’s more walking ahead. The path leads you to an underground tunnel that peeks out occasionally for rest areas, complete with trees, other plants and benches. You are given a little receiver like a telephone, and warned not to lose it.

The walls of the tunnel are made of glass. From where you walk, you are face to face with all sorts of oceanic life. Fish of brilliant hues swim past only inches away. The separate tanks each have their own story and information. After pressing the button indicated on the wall by each tank, you can hear all about the critters as you watch them glide by.
