Avoiding Falling Asleep at the Wheel
Driving long distances is not always the most pleasurable of experiences. If you like driving then yes it can be enjoyable but it is also rather tiring. If you are already tired when you set off on your journey then it can be very dangerous.
The danger in driving long distances while tired is that you can very easily fall asleep at the wheel. One minute you are driving along nicely the next minute you are asleep and the car careers off the road and potentially killing yourself, others in the car or others on the road. So
while you may be prepared to put your own life in danger remember that you are risking the lives of others in your car and others on the road.
So how do you stop falling asleep at the wheel? The best option is to actually get plenty of sleep before setting off on your journey. Trust me, it is much safer driving if you are wide awake. If this sleep doesn't eventuate consider sharing the driving around if you are travelling with others. Perhaps take a couple of hours driving each. If you are driving alone then make sure you have plenty of pit stops. Pull over and take a 20 minute nap. It's amazing how much more refreshed you feel even after just 20 minutes of snoozing.
I urge you to think before you drive and consider others on the road. Follow my advice above and you should get to your destination safely and without endangering others.
