A Life Worth Living

I've discovered that life makes us many offers we simply can't refuse: some times good, some times bad. Joy and pain can't be separated. And there is a thin line between things going my way and things going the other way. This life is indeed a journey that can be just as smooth as it is disruptive. It often keeps us off balance. Be that as it may, I've learn to appreciate this roller-coaster ride, even in the mist of confusion, unpleasant surprises, the ugly unexpected and great uncertainty. Along the way, I've come to the conclusion that on everybody's rap sheet, there are some decisions that are regrettable and/or irreversible. A lot of times we really don't realize the damage we've done until much later in life. I suppose there are some great burdens that all of us take to our graves with us. But that's not all...

After examining life just a little more carefully, I've come to realize, it's the common and easy stuff that trip us up so easily time after time...if we don't learn the lesson. I am ashamed to say, my record shows that I have crossed the wrong bridges time and time again. And I've burned the wrong bridges over and over again. Yet I've expected different results while taking the same left turn...even with all of the plenty of chances. Old habits die hard they say, routines stay routine I guess. But then again, in most cases, work in progress is never completed in hardheaded men.

I've also come to see that even if lessons are learned, bad decisions that are correctable can still have a long term or life long effect on our lives and those that we love, especially our children. Our decisions affect and shape so many lives, sometimes for the good, but more times than we are willing to admit, for the bad. Our choices and our two cents have a lasting impact and influence on our lives and so many other lives as well. But, there is something else...
