In attempts of buying nearly everything that we eat organic as well as either vegan or vegetarian I started getting Amy's Vegetarian Organic Refried Beans for refried beans. Although a bit more pricey than the none organic refried beans I thought it was well worth the price of having something that was free of GMO's and organic.

There have been two different varieties of refried beans by the brand Amy's that I have tried and those are the Black Beans and the Traditional ones. I like the Traditional ones just as much as I liked other traditional refried beans that were not organic and as for the Black Beans ones I love black beans so I loved these kind of refried beans a lot as well. Although I have only tried these two kind of refried beans by Amy's they also make an Organic Refried Beans with Green Chiles as well as a low in sodium line.

The ingredients in both the Amy's Organic Refried Black Beans and Amy's Organic Traditional Refried Beans are both vegan and very similar. The traditional ingredients are organic pinto beans, filtered water, organic onions, organic high oleic safflower and/or sunflower oil, sea salt, organic garlic and spices. The black beans ingredients are the same with the exception of pinto beans, where obviously organic black beans are used, and organic bell peppers, organic tomatoes and organic green chiles are also used.

Even though I could go on and on about how much I like these refried beans I will admit that there is one difference that I found with these beans and that is that they tend to have more whole beans in them than other non organic brands. I am perfectly fine with this, except that it can make it a bit challenging to try and spread them on to a tortilla and especially hard to spread them on to a chip. Otherwise I have no complaints and don't think that this is a big enough problem to get another brand.
