Currant Creek Campground is a great place to go for a weekend or a week. Relax and listen to the aspen trees and enjoy the sound of water lulling you to sleep. Currant Creek is located off of Highway 40 in Uinta, Utah. The campground itself has fire rings, grills, picnic tables, toilets, running water, and boat launches. It also has an older playground for the kids to play on. One word of caution: the river runs nearby and it is usually running very fast. There are no ATV's allowed in the campground but the wildlife watching is great. We often had small animals and even deer roaming through our campsite! To get there from Heber City, Utah take highway 40 east for 45 miles to the Currant Creek exit, then you have to travel 17 miles on a bumpy gravel road to the campground. The campground has an on site host and is open from May 27-October 31 most years. Reservations should be made five days in advance and the campground requires a minimum two day stay on the weekends and three days during a holiday. You can make reservations by calling (435) 548-2554. Pets are welcome, but they must be on a leash at all times and in your control. This is a great place to go for the family with varied interests as hiking, mountain biking, fishing, and boating is all within your reach. Currant Creek Reservoir, which is adjacent to Currant Creek Campground, covers 300 acres and is famous for its good brown and cutthroat trout fishing. It is a pretty good find and usually not as crowded as other recreation areas. These lake stores spring runoff for use in the Salt Lake Valley year round so please make sure you follow low impact rules and leave no trace!
