Oh, Huck...what can I say?
Mighty governor of the Natural State
You've campaigned with zeal
Though it was not to be

The only true conservative,
The others sell their souls
To vote against the Democrats
Instead of for what is right

You would have brought
Hope and change
With integrity and The Fair Tax
Not wimpy, flaky fluff

I delight in your humor
And the truth you speak
As do I at the sight of you
So comfortable on the bass guitar

My fondness of you is matched
Only by my sadness
That Republicans must vote by default
For John McCain

He has nothing on you, Mike
You are the real deal
And I will save my vote
For a time when I can be proud

Say you will run again in 2012
And not withhold your brilliant ideas
From this nation in need of a real hero
Who is not afraid to be himself

So my excitement for election time
Has been squashed without mercy
Replaced by a cringe at the sight of
John, Hillary and Barack

I thank you, Mr. Huckabee
For introducing yourself to America
I will mourn only for a time
And be grateful for the memories

The future is bleak

I love this! Mike Huckabee was like a breath of fresh air compared to the other candidates. Oh well!

Although I have nowhere as much for Huckabee as you and Chuck Norris do, it was definitely fun reading your poem. Good work!

Great poem! It is a sad day indeed when we wind up with McCain as the Party's nominee.

The one thing I was really in favor of was Huck's Fair Tax. No one else seems interested in pursuing it.

Nice work; I believe with conviction we have not seen the last of Huckabee!

Glad to see you writing again-I am also here in Texas (Arlington) and waiting for the primary results tonight-I voted early and voted my conscience for Huck-that without a real miracle-I will have to vote for McCain in the final election-could never help Hillary or Obama win by not voting-because I do believe that McCain will uphold some of the Christian values I believe are crucial-also it will probably be more up to the house/Senate-but Huck would have been my first choice-I agree-maybe we will see him again in four years
