"Over the Hill" Birthday Gifts

Know someone who is going to turn 50 or 60? Having an "Over The Hill" birthday party is an awesome idea! When my husband recently turned fifty you would have thought the world had ground to a halt. He thought he was "old." So we played along with him!

I organized a surprise "Over The Hill" fiftieth Birthday party for him and invited all of his friends from work and church. We had great food, awesome decorations, but the best part of the evening were the fantastic things people came up with for his "Over The Hill" Birthday gifts!!

1) An Old Cane - One of his friends gave him a nice old cane with a note saying that his first hip operation was just around the corner, so here was a cane to help out!

2) Rogain, Viagra, and Hair dye Gift Basket - Some times all you need to combat the signs of aging is a quick trip to the drug store. Hey, a little help never hurt anyone!!

3) Coke Bottle Glasses and a Large Print Readers Digest - These were actually hand made out of the bottoms of two coke bottles - hysterical!

4) A Novelty Tee Shirt - It said, "I am not old, I am just a limited edition!"

5) A Pair Of Shorts - You know the kind old men wear when they retire to Florida? Oh yeah. Long knee length shorts with legs so wide you could get caught up in the next big wind.

6) Training Wheels - For his Harley. There was a concern about his safety now that he was so old. It was suggested perhaps it was time for the training wheels to go back on!

7) Ear and Nose Hair Clippers - For that new crop that would be springing up any day now!

8) Adult Diapers - 'Nuff said there.

9) Denture Supplies - A nice soak tank and cleaning tablets. After all, could dentures be very far away?

10) Bedpan - From a nurse friend of ours. She told him to empty it himself!

The gifts really perked him up and he realized he wasn't as old as he had though after all! When buying a gift for an "Over The Hill" birthday party make sure to keep it light and fun - and don't forget the good natured ribbing!
