"Over the Hill" Birthday Party Favors
Know someone who is going to turn 50 or 60? Having an "Over The Hill" birthday party is an awesome idea! When my husband recently turned fifty you would have thought the world had ground to a halt. He thought he was "old." So we played along with him!
I organized a surprise "Over The Hill" fiftieth Birthday party for him and invited all of his friends from work and church. We had great food, awesome decorations, and at the end of the evening we sent all our guests home with cute little "Over The Hill" birthday party favors baskets that
where the icing on the cake!
I went to the local medical supply store and and purchased inexpensive little plastics bedpans and filled them up with shredded paper and several goodies:
1) Cookies - Shaped like tomb stones, dentures, canes, and buzzards. I decorated them with color flow icing and they were adorable!
2) Eye Balls - I picked up some kids toy glasses while at the dollar store and "glued" (with frosting)some gumballs into the frames that looked like bloodshot eye balls. I rubber banded them around a large print edition of a crossword puzzle book (also found at the dollar store!)
3) A Cloth Hankie - Because that's what old people use, right?
4) Coupons - For several adult products (mostly adult diapers!) denture grip, Ben-gay, Polident, etc.
5) Jello - When you don't have teeth, Jello is your friend!
The gift baskets really made them laugh, and the cookies were a real hit. When assembling a favor basket for an "Over The Hill" birthday party make sure to keep it light and fun - and don't forget the good natured ribbing!
Good places to find "Over The Hill" favor basket gift ideas:
1) Gag Gift Shops - This includes stores like Spencer's. These stores often provide the funniest, if not most off color, gifts for the "Over The Hill" birthday party favors. You can find anything from the mild to the wild. Just make sure to keep it PG-13 if children are going to attend the party!
2) The Drug Store - Ear hair clippers, ear wax removal kits, reading glasses, hemorrhoid pillows, Ben-gay, all the ingredients for the perfect "Over The Hill" birthday party favor basket!
