"I don't watch the Food Network anymore because every time I turn it on it's always Paula Deen or Rachel Ray."

A friend said that to me the other day, and I laughed it off. While those two women, Rachel Ray especially, do seem to be on the channel quite a bit, there are enough chefs on the channel to make it worth watching. Then the Food Network did something completely unexpected: they fired Robert Irvine.

Robert Irvine is the host of one the more popular shows on the Food Network, Dinner Impossible. This show spoofs the old television series Mission Impossible. Irvine arrives in an undisclosed location, and it given a seemingly impossible task to perform. Among those tasks was created a dinner for a large group of soldiers prior to shipping off to Iraq, cooking dinner on an old fashioned chuck wagon, and making a meal on a deserted island.

Through it all Robert Irvine has managed to bring light and humor into even the most impossible situations, and gained quite a following on the Food Network. His first cookbook, baring the same name as his television show, was released in 2007. Women seemed to love the show because of his easy demeanor and bulging biceps, even Paula Deen herself has expressed some delight at his appearance. Men too loved the show, because they had a real man cooking on television.

Irvine is a far cry from the other Food Network favorites including Tyler Florence, the Deen boys, and Bobby Flay. He was more of a rough and tumble British bloke, and was known to kick back with fellow television chef Guy Fiere (host of "Dinners, Drive Ins, and Dives"). Then it was announced that the Food Network would not be renewing Robert Irvine's show, or contract after this season.

Oh Robert! You can't do that! Make all of us fall in love with you and then disappear! (Is your name really Robert? haha) Here's what you do...find another network like Tony Bourdain did, and I promise you we will all be switching channels faster than you can say 'blimey'. I don't know why I love your show, though. Fifteen minutes in and I'm already reaching for a rum and coke from the stress! xoxo Ps. Now that you have a successful show to put on your resume, you probably can leave off the other stuff about, well, you know...

So Robert Irvine stretched on his resume...that we would be Food Network fault for not checking things out....so what ....he meets the challenge head on and he is very entertaining...funny....and can cook. It would be a shame that the show gets canceled. He has proven himself and has a loyal following Save Robert Irvine

Having tried a number of Rachel Ray's recipes, the quality varies widely. She gets points from me for being perky but sometimes it is a bit too much perkiness, depending on the day and my mood. However, she certainly has a positive outlook on cooking and even experimentation. Phrases like, "just eyeball it" and "EVOO" (extra virgin olive oil) are stuck in my mind.

You do not lie on a resume, if you do and are caught you are fired. Now that is what happens to "everyday" folks. And a side note, The Food Network should have verifyed his claims.

I love Robert Irvine!!! Obviously he does know how to cook.I enjoy his show and I will be unhappy if it really isn't renewed. You can see he is a hard worker and aims to please.Food Network is guilty of not fact checking! Wish I could say fantastic things on a resume but it would never fly!!1
