Although traditionally the rehearsal dinner is for the bride and groom, bridal party, groomsmen, and parents of the bride and groom, some people choose to have a party and include guests other than those invited by tradition. This, of course, is up to whomever pays for the affair. Although invitations are usually extended verbally, you may choose to purchase some invitations to add elegance and beauty to the occasion. With an abundance of colors and styles, you are sure to find something that you like. You can choose something in the wedding colors and you can select something that appeals to you.

Using rehearsal invitations is a personal choice, not tradition as with wedding invitations. Since the rehearsal dinner is customarily held at a restaurant, there is no need to be concerned about conforming to the wedding colors unless you want to do so. In addition, if everyone you want to invite is local, you may even choose to hand the invitations out instead of mailing them since there is really no need for a formal confirmation of attendance (a verbal one will do for the rehearsal dinner).

It's more important to make sure that you know how many people are coming, especially if the affair is being catered. If everyone is meeting a particular restaurant, you still need to know how many people will be attended in order to reserve enough seats. Bear in mind that the rehearsal dinner customarily follows the wedding rehearsal, however, if the rehearsal is held later in the evening, it's possible that the dinner may precede the rehearsal, especially if it is held on a night when everyone needs to go to work the next day or has school age children.
