I love my pineapple hued Eureka Altima Turbo bagless vacuum cleaner.  I bought my Eureka Altima Turbo bagless vacuum cleaner at Wal-Mart for a very reasonable $79.88 before tax.  It was neither the cheapest nor the most expensive bagless upright vacuum cleaner in the store.  After comparing it to the other bagless vacuum cleaners on display, the Eureka Altima Turbo bagless vacuum cleaner seemed like the most logical purchase.  Moreover, its Good Housekeeping seal of approval along with Wal-Mart’s generous 90-day return policy made it a no brainer when deciding to bring it home and to give it a spin.  On my return home, this is what I found.

1.  The Eureka Altima Turbo bagless vacuum with HEPA filter sucks up dust and dirt like no one’s business.

At 12 amps, this is a powerful machine.  My husband and I marveled at the dust balls, hair and dirt that were collected after the first few sweeps over our carpeted living room floor.  There is something immensely satisfying about seeing the dust and debris accumulate in its clear plastic canister.

Its HEPA filtration system, also, makes it an ideal vacuum for the allergy sufferer.

Furthermore, the Eureka Altima Turbo bagless vacuum cleaner has five adjustable settings for floor and carpet height.  With one pass over our vinyl flooring in the kitchen, bathroom and entryway, it has made sweeping with a broom a thing of the past.

Takeaways
  • This vacuum makes cleaning a snap.
  • This vacuum works well on carpet and floors.
  • This vacuum is an excellent buy.
Did You Know?
In 1908 James Spangler, a janitor in Ohio, invented the first portable, suction cleaner. He sold his patent to his cousin's husband, William Hoover.

I was having the same problem with my eureka altima vaccum spitting dirt back at me. Today we decide to take it apart to investigate. There is a piece up in the vaccum above the canister part that had dirt and such all over it. It is a round yellow piece that is basically shoved up above the canister. We took it out and cleaned it and cleaned the other filter and today after 2 months of thevaccum not working it is actually working again. I do believe that no vaccum should be so complicated and I probably will not buy another of this brand, but maybe this info can help someone else's start working again.

I bought this vacuum too for a reasonable price.. $75 at Target. I get it home and the first time I use it, it starts spitting everything I vacuum up out the back at me. See now I might not had noticed if I was wearing pants but I had on capris and I kept feeling something hitting my legs! I altered the settings, played around with it.. nothing! no matter how much or litte I vacuum it still shoots out the back at me!

Same problem as everyone else. It worked great about one time, then it kept shooting the dirt back behind it so no matter how many times I go over the same places, they are covered with dirt. It's hopeless and frustrating waste of time and money. This should be recalled. Consumer advocate group? Consumer reports? Where do you go?

I also hate this vacuum. The hose it not long enough to do anything useful, and it is useless on my hardwood floors, no matter the setting. The review at the top of this page smacks of paid positive reviews. This vacuum is a total waste of money! I had a Hoover bought from WalMart for $30 that worked way better than this thing. I can't even successfully clean baseboards because the hose is so short, when I have both rigid attachments on, it gets in its own way and vacuum wants to tip over. Aaaagghghh! Piece of craaaaaap!!!

I just picked this up from outside of our dumpster because it looked brand new. Sometimes people put things out because they are moving, etc. After trying it, I see that the hose area is all clogged and the vacuum does not have suction, but a burning smell. After reading the above comments, I am putting it back out for the garbage.

This vacuum is a real piece of junk. I had it for about a month before it started messing up on me. Thought I did something wrong...cleaned the filters, removed all hair from the rollers and nothing worked. Here's what will happen if you buy one: 1. First time you use it you'll be very impressed with how hard it sucks and how clean your carpet is. 2. After a couple weeks the hose will stop picking stuff up. Instead of picking things up through the hose, the vacuum will shot crap out the side where you unplugged the hose from. Why in the hell did they design it that way? 3. The vacuum will leave a little dirt pile wherever you turn it off at. You might be able to deal with this by just vacuuming the spot where you store your vacuum last. That way when you turn it off the dirt stays hidden under the vacuum. 4. After a couple more weeks the vacuum will stop picking everything up and then it will start smoking with each use. Not safe. 5. By now you've already thrown away

Not much to add, other than that I agree with everyone else who has posted on this thread. I am wondering how much Eureka paid the person who wrote this review.

I can't believe how frustrated this Eureka vacuum has made me. I agree w/ the other posts...it spits stuff back, constantly, & leaves clumps of dog hair on the carpet. We have to take it apart, often, because it clogs. The majority of our house is hardwood floors, so it's not like we're vacuuming a large carpeted area. Today, I was yet again trying to get it to work & I started to smell something burning. The next thing I knew, it was smoking. TERRIBLE product!!!

Uggghhh I am so glad I'm not the only one to have all these problems with this so called "vacuum" I would say it sucks be that would be a huge lie. Vacuuming used to be the easiest chore and now it's the most frustrating chore. Now that it's warm out I wear flip-flops. Well guess what it hurts to vacuum cause the machine kicks everything right back at my feet at such a high rate that it stings. It's impossible to get the floor clean with this machine even after going over the floor 4 times.

This is really a piece of junk. Instead of cleaning the carpet it makes it dirtier by blowing dirt everywhere.

Bouhgt this piece of junk in Dec. 2007 and like everyone else found out this is a piece of CRAP. The brush just flings the dirt back and forth with out sucking it up. I have cleaned it several times and it does no better. Eureka should give everyone their money back and pull this off the market

I can't believe this!!! How can Eureka justify making such a piece of junk and then charging $90 for it!!! Mine is having the same problem as those above. The hose works great and sucks everything up but when I go to vacuum it just throws everything back out! And then when I turn it off it leaves a dust pile. This vacuum needs to be recalled. Get with it Eureka!!!!

I just bought the vaccum and it is running fine. Only design flaw that I see is in the handle. The 2 screws were difficult to get in all the way but it did work after changing the tip of the screwdriver to adjust for the stripping of the screw heads. I had a Bissel vaccum that I thought was great, then it caught on fire after 6 months.. (But it isnt under warranty because the "dog hair" might have caused the problem. This vaccum sucked up a huge hairball.... then went over the floor and sucked up another huge hairball.. then a smaller one.. now the floor when vaccumed has small amounts of dust in it. I even borrowed a friends Dyson afterward and it had about the same amount that mine did AFTER I ran the Dyson on it. I havent had any problems yet.. but will post if I do..
