If you have a Lego lover in your life and want to get them something special you may want to look into the Lego Star Wars key chain series. This has recently been expanded to include the larger bag charms that are priced anywhere from $8.00 to $10.00. You can purchase these in the Lego World Shop or through their Shop At Home catalog for a limited time. The bag charms are nice and do have a good bit of detail to them but they are prone to theft.

The various Star Wars themed key chains that have been released over the past eight years have all represented a great partnership between Lego, Lucas Films and the designers. The detail on the Stormtrooper is incredible but it only second best to the Clone Trooper. Likewise, the stunning Princess Leia key chain was one of the most in demand items when it was released and something that fetched a pretty penny at auction sites. The average selling price now is in the three to four dollar range, a little less if they have been removed from the plastic package.

Even the rugged Chewbacca was done up Lego style but sadly the Ewoks were never even a consideration. It seemed as though the Dark Side was winning the battle when the Emperor Palpatine and Darth Maul figures were released but thankfully Anakin and Luke Skywalker helped to balance things out. Almost all of the Lego versions of the film counterparts were done up perfectly but there are limitations so not everything is exactly as it should be.

The droids were not left out in the sandstorm; the Astromech Droid, R2-D2 and C-3PO were all transformed into key chains that had a suggested selling price of about $4.00 to $5.00 when they were released. Packaging for the key chains initially was extremely poor and for that reason a majority of them were never offered in retail stores. Packages sets that were sold at auction sites were never sanctioned by Lego or Lucas and any inflated profits made from them went into the pockets of the sellers.

Takeaways
  • Fun gifts for Star Wars fanatics and Lego lovers
  • Key chains and accessories
Did You Know?
Lego has made over 75 different type of key chains, over half of them have movie tie-ins to Harry Potter, Batman and Star Wars.
