With busy days I was always regretting that I didn't drink more water. With chapped lips and just that overall feeling of not enough liquids in me constantly happening at the end of the day for me I decided to work extra hard to make a point to drink more water. Here are some of the things that I do to ensure that I am getting enough water.

When I first wake up in the morning I will pour myself a nice tall glass of water and drink it. I am usually a little thirsty just from having a dry mouth from sleeping but making a point to drink an entire glass to remedy the dry mouth makes a huge difference, as oppose to just drinking a couple sips to end the dry mouth feeling. In addition after I brush my teeth in the morning after eating breakfast I will help wash out the taste of toothpaste with a glass of water.

I tend to have a glass of water with nearly every meal, except for breakfast because I have recently had a glass and plan to have glass of water very soon after breakfast. If you don't like to drink water while you are eating make a point to drink a glass of water after or before a meal. Also if you take vitamins remember that you should take them with a tall glass of water and try drinking an extra glass right before you take them. In the evening I make a point to get 2 more glasses of water in before I go to bed. So my goal is generally 8 glasses of water a day, 1 first thing in the morning, 1 after brushing my teeth in the morning, 1 with lunch, 1 with dinner, 1 before taking my vitamins, 1 to take my vitamins and 2 in the evening.

Another good thing to remember is limiting caffeine. If you are overcaffeinated, all the water in the world won't save you from that "feeling." I know this is something I struggle with. Thanks for the piece. Regards~Jesse

Good tips. However, actually drinking the eight cups is a myth. It's getting a total of eight cups.
