I have always liked fragrances by Estee Lauder; even though the designer makes fragrances that I preferably wouldn't wear on a daily basis, I have always liked the long lasting deep overpowering long lasting scents. When I saw Cinnabar sitting on mommasitas dresser, I had to try it. The name Cinnabar made me think that this antique orange colored perfume would smell like cinnamon buns.
The bottle was fairly blah; nothing stood out as expensive, nor was the plain tower shaped bottle attractive enough to want to keep after the perfume was gone.
The Scent:
I sprayed a little Cinnabar here, and there. On my wrists, on my clothing and in my hair. The scent that hit me first was not cinnamon though, it was more like dark semi sweetened chocolate, with a very light after tone of cinnamon, sugar, and herbs.
A strange scent, but definitely not an ugly one. I liked the warm chocolaty scent, and the sugary cinnamon scent that shortly followed.
Last:
Cinnabar packs a pretty powerful punch. After the initial high scent of chocolate died down, I was left with a more potent powdery cinnamon scent that was enjoyable, but a little too foody for my liking.
All in all Cinnabar by Estee Lauder lasted for the entire day on my wrist, and on my clothing it lasted into the next day. When it comes to last, Cinnabar is spectacular in my opinion. Most perfume scents stick around for a mere few hours; if that.
Recommended Wear:
Cinnabar is a very deep, dark, sultry scent that I would personally recommend for fall and winter nights. I really can't see this one being the fragrance of choice on hot summer days though. It's too dark.
Overall:
Cinnabar in my opinion is decent. Like most Estee Lauder fragrances though, it is not a scent I would want to wear on a daily basis; even in winter and fall months.
For me it is just too food like. Don't get me wrong, I adore food scents when it comes to perfume and lotions...however smelling the chocolate and cinnamon mix non-stop throughout the day causes nausea for me. If it faded a bit faster I would probably wear it more often. The scent though, in my opinion is a bit over powering, and lasts a very long time.
