Inexpensive Birthday Party Favors

Birthday favors can be one of the most costly parts of putting on a birthday party and the kids want the small toys and favors to take home, so they are a must for every party. In this article I will discuss a few favors that won't break your wallet.

1. Oriental trading has items in bulk that you can purchase, you can buy in units of 10 to 20 items in one pack also. If you have children that are around the same age or a year or two apart, order enough for both parties and store it away.

2. Shop at your discount stores in your community, you will find some great bargains there.

3. Have the kids make their own favors, pull out the markers, the glue and the construction paper, they will have something that is unique to their taste and something they can proudly display when they get home. You can make pictures, hats, bracelets, chains and many other items, let the kids decide.

4. Lucky stone pets are cheap and affordable to make, go to your local hardware and purchase a bag of lucky stones or you local gravel yard, give the kids markers and let them create their own pet. Some ideas are lady bugs, dogs, cats, people faces, just about anything that can come out of the child's imagination. Who doesn't like pet rocks.

5. If the season is right, have the kids plant seeds, kids love to watch things grow and this is something they can take home and continue to interactive with. I have done sunflowers, these are awesome, just get out the Styrofoam cups, some potting soil and the seeds. The sunflowers grow huge and the kids can compare them at each others house as the summer goes on. Buy good potting soil with plant food in it so the kids have more success with this one. I use sunflowers, but you can use any seeds, tomato, corn, flowers, what ever is appropriate for your group.

6. Animal balloons will take some practice on your part, but with a little time and patience you will master the art. This is a good job for the teen of the group, so get the bag of balloons and get practicing.

Favors are important, with a little thought and time they don't have to break your wallet. Have fun with it and the kids will too.
