(A spine-tingling exploration to the reasons and remedies of man’s (and woman’s) oldest affliction – an aching back.)

Story after story have been told of horrors of misery and pain. “I desperately need help!” an elder from Boston complained
to his physician. He told that his back pain started over a half year ago when he reached retirement; and if he moved,
walked or do any kind of movement it got worse. In Orlando, Florida a mother of two found herself stricken while bending
over to make up a bed – she related that “...inch by inch I crawled into the bed!” Julie of Madison, Wisconsin stated, “I
suffered chronic back pain for over five years, going back and forth to several different doctors, physical therapists and chiropractors, and nothing seemed to help.

And the stories continue as 8 out 10 American suffer from back problems. They are especially common as we age. They
may be temporary back pains caused by an accident or stress. They may be long term chronic problems caused by a wide range of mechanical causes, ranging from poor habits to damage or deterioration of the spine.

Almost anything even mundane can make the back go awry: a jarring sudden stop in vehicles; athletic exertion beyond the body’s capability; even routine activities like combing your hair, soaping one’s body in the shower, or reflexive actions like sneezing...

Backaches can strike anyone for young or old, sedentary or active physically and in all occupations. Only a sufferer can
really understand the complete helpless and torment of this devastating ailment. Yet in the majority of cases it is usually temporary of curable. One’s work on the job is affected, household chores are put aside and every movement is filled with peril. Sometimes dressing becomes a tortuous affair and even a needed trip to the toilet can be quite excruciating. Off
course the sexual act may never be fulfilled.
