Stay at Home Moms have the chance to switch roles and become a working Mom on TLC's new series The Secret Life of a Soccer Mom which airs on Monday nights at 7:00p.m. EST. I was intrigued by the show's description and found myself tuned into TLC to watch the premier episode. Being a stay at home Mom myself, or SAHM, for ten years I can understand what these women are going through. Here are my thoughts on the premiere episode and what it is like to be a stay at home Mom.

The Secret Life of a Soccer Mom, for those who aren't familiar with the show, is about giving stay at home Moms a chance to pursue the career they gave up for their family. These Moms secretly head off for a few days to work jobs related to the career path they were on before becoming stay at home Moms. Their families think that they are actually headed off to a spa for a much deserved break and aren't let in on the secret until the end of the show. Their spouse meanwhile gets to stay home with the children for three days to take care of the family in the Mom's absence.

In the first episode of The Secret Life of a Soccer Mom we met a Mom who had big dreams of becoming a fashion designer before she had her three daughters. Adrian Stark, the stay at home Mom, got the chance of a lifetime to work for a clothing company designing three dresses to be shown in front of buyers at an in studio fashion show. Adrian seemed thrilled to receive such an opportunity and even found happiness when one of the dresses she designed was worn by Jennifer Hudson.

Takeaways
  • The Secret Life of a Soccer Mom airs on Mondays at 7:00p.m. EST on TLC.
  • Stay at home Moms get a chance to become working Moms.

I hate how people think that being a mom is not work!

It was a good opening show. I missed the very beginning. I didn't even realize the host was Tracey Gold for quite a while. I thought the Mom was going to chose home out of fear of upsetting her husband. He looked ill for a few moments, lol! They should do a re-visit the family show in six months. I'm really curious as to what will happen. My sons are now 17 and 19. They got here way too fast. I'm glad I could be with them as much as posible. SAHM is a very stressful, way underpaid/underappreciated calling.

Hadn't heard of this show, but it sounds so interesting. In the 5 1/2 years since I've had kids, I've worked full-time, part-time, SAHM for 2 years, and now I'm working part-time again. Although I am very appreciative of the time I had at home, I found it to be really challenging. Yes, it definitely is a career. For me personally, working p/t makes me happy. Such an individual decision! I'm intrigued by this show. Thanks for the review. I think I'm going to check it out.
