In coming up with a list of my favorite quotes from movies, I tried to go with the ones that came to mind, or the ones that have stayed with me after the first time I saw the movie. They are not necessarily the best movies that I have ever seen, but they were excellent movies at the very least.

The quotes will probably reflect as a person as well in that may say more about me than I would ever care to admit. There is something to be said about the movies or quotes you like the most, and what they can say about you as a person.

Here are ten of my favorite quotes, and they are presented in no particular order:

"All I'm saying is that if I ever start referring to these as the best years of my life - remind me to kill myself."

-Jason London as Randal 'Pink' Floyd in "Dazed & Confused."

I remember watching this movie with my dad, and after Jason London said that line, he looked at me and said:

"Remember that."

Suffice to say, my high school experience could have been a lot better, but how tragic if I would look back on it (or college for that matter) as the best times of my life. I fear using the term "best years of my life" because it basically spells out that I have peaked in life, and that everything is downhill from here (that's what was told to me when I turned 18 anyway). Jason's line from "Dazed & Confused" is the one line from a movie filled with so many great ones that has stayed with me to this very day. Whether or not you had fun during your high school years, don't ever look at them as the best years of your life. They are a time of uncontrollable hormones and of emotional scars that will never completely heal.

"This job would be great if it weren't for the fucking customers."

-Jeff Anderson as Randal Graves in "Clerks"

Great list. Different from mine, but I still felt like I was reliving my high school and college years when reading yours. It sparked many fond memories.

I like the journal memes where people list quotes from movies and others try to guess them. I'm horrible at it, but it's always fun.

I haven't seen all of the movies you've listed, but I do like the Hannibal Lechter quote :-)

Interesting choices and great insight. I have to admit when I saw the title of your piece I was anxious to see which lines you had selected.

Wow, these are EXCELLENT! I haven't seen about half of these films, but I don't really need to. Your elaboration is spot on. I can never remember movie quotes (other than "get away from her, you bitch!" from Aliens). Excellent article.

Thanks for your comments on my 10 quotes! Liked yours, too. Have always loved the line by Hannibal Lechter.

Loved the Yoda quote. And I've never heard the Orson Welles one before, but now that you mention it, he does make a great point. Great article!

Thanks Ben for including quotes from the Coen Brothers' Fargo and Redford's Quiz Show. Frances McDormand's performance was wonderfully bizarre in a Scandinavian way. Ya?
