We all know that some women carry everything inside the depths of their purse. Well, everything except for the kitchen sink. Just as your house or lawn deserves a little sprucing up in the spring, your purse does need some organizational cleaning up, as well.

Spring is a great time to change purses to match the new spring fashion and colors. While you are changing handbags, why not get organized?

It's in the Bag

You know that you have your debit card in your purse...somewhere. Getting organized will help you to find things you need quickly and easily. This can start off simply by selecting a purse with numerous compartments to separate items. Having all credit and debit cards handy in one section of the purse with the checkbook is a good idea. You may even want to stash a small calculator and pen in this area, too.

If your purse or handbag doesn't have divided compartments, you can create your own organizational system. Using small plastic baggies or other containers you can organize like items together. Old makeup cases work very well for this idea. Try using colored or patterned containers to make this simpler. Clear baggies help you to easily see what is in the container. Makeup should be in one bag. First aid and personal items should be in another area. Coupons or the checkbook will be separate in their own areas, as well.

Toss the Chaos

Your purse is a tiny version of your home away from home. Don't let it get cluttered up and trashy. Regularly go through your purse and toss out unused items like scraps of paper or gum wrappers. If you have an empty tube of ChapStick, now is the time to get rid of it and replace it with a new one. Old receipts and ticket stubs need to be thrown out to the trash to help keep your purse neat and tidy. If the garbage piles up in your handbag, you won't be able to find anything with ease when you need it.

Great advice. I never carry a purse anymore. I should, but I never do.
