How to Find Success in College

People have wondered what are some good ways to find success while in college.  As a recent college graduate I have compiled things that have helped me.

* STUDY HARD: yet reserve time for some fun.  All work and no play can really do some damage to you mentally and physically.  Studying outside of class helps you understand what has been taught.  Read and outline the material before class, and then review your notes and the notes for the professor.  Jot down things you think is important, if the professor goes over them as well…highlight it in your notes.

* GET TO KNOW YOUR PROFESSORS: knowing your professors helps create a raport between you two you’ll feel comfortable coming to them for help or to discuss ideas. You’ll also get a better understanding of what they expect so you know what/how to study.  Take advantage of their office hours.  Whether it be to just chat about the subject/assignment or ask for extra help to understand the material.  Professors want to see their students succeed, not fail.

* FIND/CREATE A STUDY GROUP: you could learn something they understand or explain something they don’t.  You can also share notes and discuss lessons to gain better understanding of something you may have missed.  Some of the time you can create some good friendships.  Study groups can lead to better understanding of the material, and creates comfort with people in your classes.

* JOIN A GROUP OR ORGANIZATION: Some groups can lead to connections in your field.  Others just meet to have fun and levitate stress created during the week.  Groups and organizations look good on resumes with a good G.P.A.  That shows you can keep good grades and have time for other things,  you can manage your time wisely.  Some colleges have organizations specifically for your major.
