How to Make Your Own Wedding Invitations

Make 100 Wedding Invitations for $30

Wedding invitations are one of the most overinflated costs for a wedding. Websites all over the place tell you that $100 for 100 invitations is cheap. If you tack on the 1-2 stamps that you'll need for each one, you're looking at $150-200 and that is NOT cheap by any means. That's why I suggest making your own wedding invitations. If you want something simple, go buy some 12x12 cardstock in white, a 12" paper cutter, 12x12 vellum, a hole punch, scissors, and some ribbon in one of your wedding colors.

Follow these directions for cute, simple wedding invites for cheap:
1-Cut the paper and the vellum into 4" by 8" pieces.
2-Create a design/picture that you'd like for the invitation. Make it on word (TIP: Make the page on word 4x8 borderless and put the design/picture on there and make it fit)
3-Play around with different designs/pictures. Print them out using the borderless option on your printer.
4-Print your actual invitation wording on the vellum paper that has been cut into 4x8 inch pieces (TIP: Use the transparency setting on your printer - it will print less ink and will print more slowly so you are less likely to smudge the ink)
5-Let both pieces dry for at least 10 minutes.
6-Place the vellum on top of the cardstock and line them up well.
7-In the center of the top of the invites, make 2 holes a quarter inch apart with a hole punch at the top of the card.
8-Loop your ribbon through the card so that the tails are sticking through the back.
9-Now, take the tails and push them through the holes on the opposite side that you did the first time and pull them through until it makes a faux bow.
10-Cut off any excess on the bows and/or the cardstock/vellum.

I spent like $30 total on them and that was only because I had to buy a hole punch and a paper cutter. Another perk to these invitations is that they fit in a regular business size envelope (get all your envelopes for $1 or less!!!) and they don't require an extra stamp!
