Clean the Living Room in Less Time with These Tips

It seems that the living room is the one room in the house that needs the most cleaning the most often. I think because it is such a highly used area and receives a lot of traffic it is easy for it to get messy quickly. There are many ways that you can shorten the amount of time that you spend cleaning your living room.

Some times the first thing that you have to do to keep the time that you are cleaning your living room down is to enforce some rules. A great rule is no shoes on in the house. This way you will cut down on a lot of dirt that gets tracked into your home and more specifically your living room. This will save you time that you would have otherwise spent sweeping or vacuuming your living room floor. Another good rule is no eating in the living room. This may be unpractical for a lot of people but if you have messy eaters, unless they just can't help it because of age, who just keep dropping food on the living room floor than you might encourage them to eat elsewhere.

Another good rule or at least good thing to practice is having everyone in the house take what they have brought into the living room that day back to its correct spot at the end of the day. Toys tend to get brought out of the bedroom to be played with in the living room very often. If you have a toy area in your living room, than at the end of the day you and your young child can get everything put away. You will drive yourself crazy trying to keep all of the toys put away at all times and you will drive your children crazy doing this too. If doing this once a day is not enough you can do it more often.

Something else that helps with saving time with cleaning your living room is lightly cleaning it when you are in it but otherwise waiting for something to happen. For instance the next time you are watching a show and there is a commercial break and you have noticed the magazines on the coffee table need to be straightened up you can take this 3 minute break you have to do so. Your living room is going to get messy but you don't have to spend a huge amount of time cleaning it.
